يهدف البحث إلى إبراز التواصل المعرفي بين الإباضية المشارقة والإباضية المغاربة من خلال تحليل الوثائق المحفوظة بهيئة الوثائق والمحفوظات الوطنية بسلطنة عُمان، وتناول الجوانب العلمية والمعرفية التي تطرقت لها هذه الوثائق بتحليلها وتقديم وصف علمي لها، إذ يعتمد البحث على المنهج التاريخي التحليلي وذلك بوصف طبيعة العلاقات بين مشارقة ومغاربة العالم العربي والنِتاج المعرفي والوثائقي لهذا التواصل، ثم تحليل وثائق هذا النِتاج، وذلك لدراسة جوانب التواصل المعرفي بين أتباع المدرسة الإباضية من مشارقة العالم العربي في سلطنة عُمان بإخوانهم مغاربة العالم العربي في الجمهورية التونسية، دولة ليبيا، والجمهورية الجزائرية الشعبية، والإجابة عن التساؤل المطروح حول ماهية التواصل المعرفي بين مشارقة ومغاربة الإباضية من خلال محفوظات هيئة الوثائق والمحفوظات الوطنية. ومن النتائج المتوقعة للبحث وجود تواصل معرفي بين إباضية المشرق العربي وإباضية المغرب العربي, توثقه محفوظات هيئة الوثائق والمحفوظات الوطنية، كما يتوقع تنوع جوانب التواصل المعرفي بين الجوانب الفقهية والاجتماعية وغيرها. كما يسعى البحث لوصف الوضع القائم وتحليله؛ للوصول لاستنتاجات ووضع مقترحات لتعزيز التواصل المعرفي بين مشارقة ومغاربة الإباضية. This research aims to highlight the cognitive communication between the Ibadis of the East and the Ibadis of the Maghreb by analyzing documents preserved at the National Records and Archives Authority in the Sultanate of Oman. The study examines the scientific and intellectual aspects addressed in these documents, providing a scientific description and analysis. The research employs a historical-analytical approach to describe the nature of the relationship between the Eastern and Western regions of the Arab world and the resulting intellectual and documentary output of this communication. It further analyzes these documents to study the facets of cognitive exchange between followers of the Ibadi school in the Sultanate of Oman and their counterparts in the Republic of Tunisia, the State of Libya, and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The study seeks to answer the central question regarding the nature of cognitive communication between Eastern and Western Ibadis through the archives of the National Records and Archives Authority.Expected results include confirming the existence of cognitive communication between the Ibadis of the Arab East and West, as documented by the National Records and Archives Authority. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the aspects of this communication will vary across jurisprudential (Fiqh), social, and other domains. The research also aims to describe and analyze the current situation to reach conclusions and propose recommendations for enhancing cognitive communication between Eastern and Western Ibadis.

This study aims to thoroughly examine the role of the Kharijites in weakening and overthrowing the government of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) while revisiting the roots and consequences of this conflict. It addresses a significant gap in historicalpolitical research concerning one of Islam’s most contentious periods. Despite the importance of this subject, existing literature has largely offered one-dimensional or general analyses and has not comprehensively or multidimensionally elucidated the Kharijites’ position in the process of undermining Imam Ali’s authority. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical method and extensive library research on primary Islamic sources and contemporary studies, this research critically reevaluates diverse perspectives. Findings indicate that the Kharijite movement, by promoting takfiri ideology and extremist approaches, significantly intensified insecurity and division within the Islamic community. They played a key role in creating conditions conducive to the eventual destabilization of Imam Ali’s governance. Their violent actions, opposition to legitimate leadership, and alliance with political adversaries expanded the scope of political and doctrinal conflict. Nevertheless, Imam Ali’s resolute leadership and the community’s vigilance prevented the full realization of the Kharijites’ aims. By precisely framing the issue and exploring its multifaceted dimensions, this research contributes a deeper and more substantiated understanding of the Kharijites’ impact on Islamic political history.

يهدف هذا البحث إلى الكشف عن ملامح المدرسة اللغوية العُمانية، وبيان إسهامات علماء عُمان في خدمة اللغة العربية وعلومها عبر دراسة تحليلية للمصنفات والمنظومات اللغوية التي أُلِفت في البيئة العُمانية منذ القرن الرابع حتى القرن الرابع عشر الهجري. ويتناول البحث أبرز مجالات التأليف اللغوي، ولا سيما المعجم، والنحو، والصرف، والبلاغة، مع الوقوف على خصائص هذه المؤلفات ومناهجها العلمية والتعليمية، وتحليل طبيعة ارتباطها بالتراث اللغوي العربي العام. وقد اعتمد البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي في دراسة النصوص اللغوية وتحليل مضامينها، إلى جانب المنهج التاريخي في تتبُّع تطور التأليف اللغوي العُماني وصلته بالمدارس اللغوية الكبرى، والكشف عن أثر البيئة العلمية والثقافية في تشكيل هذا النتاج، كما سعى البحث إلى إبراز النزعة التعليمية التي اتسمت بها المؤلفات العُمانية، عبر اعتماد الاختصار، والنظم، وكثرة الشروح التعليمية، وتيسير القواعد للمتعلمين، مع المحافظة على الأصول العلمية للدرس اللغوي العربي. وتوصل البحث إلى أن المدرسة اللغوية العُمانية تميَّزت بالاستمرارية والتنوع المنهجي، وأسهمت إسهاماً أصيلاً في إثراء التراث اللغوي العربي في مختلف مجالاته عبر الجمع بين الأصالة العلمية والوظيفة التعليمية، بما يؤكد حضورها العلمي الفاعل ضمن مسيرة الدرس اللغوي العربي عبر العصور.

“Oil, Onions, and Education: A Social History of Development in Oman from the 1950s to the 1980s” investigates Oman’s great social and economic transformation in the 20th century driven by oil exploration and exploitation. The Omani government refers to this period as al-Nahḍa [The Renaissance] and presents it as an incessant march of Sulṭān-led “progress.” By contrast, this dissertation uses the approaches of social history and critical political history to reveal that Oman’s developmentalist epoch is best understood as a massive project of state building divided into two phases: a conquest phase and a consolidation phase. The conquest phase and the beginning of the consolidation phase took place during the reign of Sulṭān Saʿīd bin Taymūr (r. 1932–1970). The conquest phase ended, and consolidation accelerated under Qābūs bin Saʿīd (r. 1970–2020). The work opens with a study of how the British-backed oil company Petroleum Development (Oman) worked with Saʿīd bin Taymūr to invade and conquer the Omani Imamate, forcibly unifying the coast and the interior of the country into one polity. It also focuses on Omanis outside the country during this period, and their support of revolutionary struggles inside the country. To foreground the history of ordinary people in Oman, the dissertation then examines three case studies of groups in Oman from the 1950s to the 1980s: oil workers of the Durūʿ tribe, farmers in the interior oasis of Nizwā, and teachers and educationalists spread out across the country. Their engagements with the social transformation fell along a spectrum. Oil workers used strikes to resist corporate exploitation and to force the government to respond to their needs, farmers in Nizwā faced a new state-imposed institution, the experimental farm, whose experts sought to transform the area’s agricultural production into part of a modern commercial economy. Within this coercive context, Nizwānī farmers organized and worked as best they could to create profitable businesses, but without interest in national development. On the opposite end of the spectrum, educators—including a large expatriate contingent—participated zealously in building a government education system, with Omani teachers and administrators viewing their work as a patriotic endeavor. For expatriate Arab teachers, mostly Egyptians, working in Oman brought remuneration and adventure. The Omani and foreign teachers and educationalists worked to fuse the Sultanate together ideologically by teaching Omanis that they were part of an Omani nation and part of the broader Arab world. The final chapter investigates the role of the Royal Oman Police in physically consolidating government power over the Sultanate as the first national police force in the country. Their ability to be everywhere, and to reach areas of the country like mountaintops and islands hitherto largely inaccessible to the state, made the people of Oman legible to the government. At the same time, this new presence also made the violent potential of the state legible to the people. Nonetheless, while Oman’s developmentalist period may have, in fact, been a coercive process, ordinary people in Oman contested and influenced its historical trajectory. At critical moments they resisted its force, repurposed its programs, or engaged with its agents and, in the process, helped form the Sultanate of Oman.

ABSTRACT: The field of Islamic studies aims at the conception of working scholars, influential thinkers, ambitious reformers, and great leaders. These outputs are not attainable without a cross-disciplinary approach within the sharī’ah sphere on the one hand, and between sharī’ah and the fields of study needed by its specialist, on the other hand, for a better understanding of the complexity of reality in the aim of a successful guidance of it. That being said, this article tries to answer the following question: How important is the cross-disciplinary approach in the sharī’ah field? What is the reality of this complementarity? What are its manifestations and effects? The aim of the article is to investigate the concept of cross-disciplinary approach, its importance and its roots back to the dawn of the Islamic era. Also, it aims at discussing the reality of such complementarity and its implications for the sharī’ah field and its specialists as well. الملخص: يهدف العلم الشرعي إلى تكوين علماء عاملين، ومفكرين مؤثرين، ومصلحين مجددين، وقادة أفذاذ، ولا يمكن الوصول إلى هذه المخرجات دون تحقيق تكوين متوازن يجمع بين العلوم الشرعية فيما بينها، كما يجمع بن العلوم الشرعية وبين العلوم التي يحتاجها المتخصص في الشريعة لفهم الواقع واستيعابه، ليحسن التعامل معه والحكم عليه وتوجيهه. ولقد كان هذا التكامل ظاهرا في بدايات تشكل العلوم الشرعية، فنجد العلوم الشرعية متداخلة فيما بينها ومنسجمة، الفقه والحديث والأصول والتفسير وغيرها، كما نجد اهتماما واضحا من علماء الشريعة بعلوم أخرى مكملة، عقلية وتجريبية، كالمنطق والفلك والطب... تعين على فهم النص الشرعي وفهم الواقع للحكم عليه. ثمّ تمايزت هذه العلوم بشكل تدريجي، وظهرت الحاجة إلى التخصص، كما حدثت نوع من القطيعة مع بعض العلوم العقلية والتجريبية، بل وهجوما عليها، حتى انعزل المتخصص في الشريعة عن واقعه وعالمه. وإذا أردنا النهوض بهذا المجال المهم في حياة المسلم وفي المجتمعات المسلمة، فلابدّ من إعادة الصلة بين فنون الشريعة المختلفة، وبين الشريعة والعلوم الأخرى المكملة. ونظرا لشساعة الموضوع، فقد اقتصر البحث على إبراز التكامل بين العلوم الشرعية المختلفة وأهمية ذلك، دون الولوج في التكامل مع بقية الفنون غير الشرعية. وبناء على ما سبق، جاء هذا المقال محاولا الإجابة عن الإشكالية الآتية: ما أهمية التكامل بين العلوم الشرعية فيما بينها؟ وما واقع هذا التكامل؟ وما مظاهره وآثاره؟ فالهدف من البحث الوقوف على مفهوم التكامل، وعلى أهميته، ثم بيان جذوره في بداية عهد التشريع، وأخيرا مناقشة واقع هذا التكامل، وآثاره على العلوم الشرعية وعلى المتخصص في هذا المجال.

The 6th century AH/12th century AD saw a vibrant scientific movement in doctrinal research by Ibadi scholars in Warjalan, southern Algeria. They produced distinctive works outlining their scholastic vision in a coherent format, focusing on three main areas: explaining the fundamentals of true Islam, defending its principles and rejecting doubts from false religions and ancient philosophies; discussing the views of various Islamic schools on major and subtle theological issues, showing the Ibadi approach in addressing them; and formulating concise doctrinal systems stating Ibadi positions on all disputed matters. Their methods in the science of belief were diverse, including the educational, critical, argumentative, questioning, comparative and dialogical, cumulative, and analytical-explanatory approaches, all aimed at clarification and persuasion. شهد القرن 6هـ/12م حركة علمية نشطة في البحث العقدي قادها علماء المدرسة الإباضية بحاضرة وارجلان بجنوب الجزائر، فألفوا مؤلفات متميزة جسدت رؤيتهم الكلامية في نسق متكامل ومنهج واضح. تمحورت المضامين في ثلاث دوائر: بيان أصول الدين الإسلامي، والدفاع عن حقائقه ورد الشبهات الواردة من الأديان المحرفة والفلسفات القديمة، ومناقشة آراء المدارس الإسلامية في المسائل الكلامية الكبرى والدقيقة، مبرزين منهج الإباضية في معالجتها، ثم صياغة منظومات عقدية مختصرة توضح رأيهم في القضايا الخلافية. وتنوعت أساليب الكتابة في علم العقيدة بين التعليمي، والنقدي، والحجاجي، والتساؤلي، والتقابلي الحواري، والتجميعي التراكمي، والتحليلي التفسيري، بهدف التوضيح وتحقيق الإقناع.

Existing literature on the relationship between Britain and the seven Trucial States of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah emphasizes the perceived uniqueness of Britain’s role as an “informal empire.” As a result, scholarship devoted to analyzing the role of Britain in the formation of the United Arab Emirates tends to treat Britain’s involvement in the Gulf as an exception compared to its involvement in the rest of the Middle East. This thesis examines British involvement in the Trucial States after the Second World War as a form of colonial rule built on technologies and ideologies that were built on and resonated with other forms of colonial governance across the British Empire. This thesis examines the technologies and ideologies of British rule in the Trucial States through primary source analysis of archival documents drawn from archives in the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates, mainly relying on the National Archives of the United Kingdom. Applying the methods of reading along and against the archival grain, this thesis finds that British rule was both productive and repressive, relying on the construction and enumeration of social categories to understand the population, and on the repression of the population according to the assumptions colonial administrators made about certain social categories. The British-controlled Trucial Oman Levies fused the general model of colonial policing with the specific model of John Glubb’s Arab Legion, which assumed the existence of a Bedouin race as a distinct social category. British administrators also faced crises in which actors imagined as apolitical subjects hreatened the rubrics of colonial control, as exemplified in the 1965 and 1966 coup d’etats carried out against the rulers of Sharjah and Abu Dhabi respectively. Examining the UAE in the immediate aftermath of unification, this thesis challenges prior assessments of British withdrawal from the Gulf by showing how the ideologies and technologies of British colonialism persisted in the institutions of the nascent state. Concluding with a brief analysis of the UAE in the 21st century, this thesis speculates on the contemporary relevance of the UAE’s inherited colonial past

يتناول هذا المقال مجازر 8 ماي 1945 باعتبارها حدثًا مفصليًا في تاريخ الجزائر الحديث، من خلال شهادات ومساهمات جماعة بني مزاب المتواجدين بكثرة في مدن الشمال الجزائري، خاصة في مناطق التل مثل سطيف، قالمة، خراطة وغيرها. وبحكم نشاطهم التجاري وانتشارهم في المدن الشمالية، شاركوا في الحياة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، وكان لهم دور في مظاهرات 8 ماي 1945، حيث ساهم بعضهم في تجهيز الأعلام الوطنية ودعم الحركة الوطنية. وبعد القمع الذي تعرض له الجزائريون من طرف الاستعمار الفرنسي، وسقوط آلاف الشهداء والجرحى واعتقال عدد كبير من السكان، إضافة إلى تدمير الممتلكات، بما فيها ممتلكات التجار المزابيين، أدى هذا إلى إفلاس العديد منهم وعودتهم إلى منطقة وادي مزاب.كما يقدم المقال شهادات تجار ومجاهدين مزابيين حول تراجع الوجود التجاري للمزابيين في شرق الجزائر بعد المجازر، نتيجة الأضرار الاقتصادية والنفسية الكبيرة التي لحقت بهم، مع ذكر تفاصيل هامة من مدينة قالمة حول مسؤولية السلطات الاستعمارية في المجازر، مع ذكر أسماء بعض المسؤولين المحليين الفرنسيين ودورهم في القمع. كما يبرز المقال محاولة بعض أعيان المدينة التدخل لوقف المجازر عبر لقاءات مع السلطات الاستعمارية، لكنها لم تؤدِّ إلى نتائج حاسمة.

كانت من بين أهداف جمعية العلماء المسلمين الجزائريين عند تأسيسها سنة 1931م تعيين في مجلس إدارتها شخصيات من اتجاهات مختلفة، فكان من بينهم بعض منظّري الإصلاح في وادي مزاب. نتساءل عن جهود عضو مجلس الإدارة الشيخ إبراهيم أبي اليقظان في الجمعية ودوره في المجال الصحفي وتأثيره في الإصلاح الاجتماعي. بالرجوع إلى جرائد الشيخ وشهادات رفاقه عن تلك الحقبة، يتبين لنا أن صداقته برئيس الجمعية الشيخ ابن باديس وتبادل الزيارات بينهما كانت منذ وقت مبكر، سواء بتونس وقسنطينة. ما أهله على ما يبدو لنيل عضويته بها منذ تأسيسها؛ فانتخابه لنيل منصب بها سنة 1934م ثم تمثيلها بالجنوب. وكان لتشابه نشاط الحركة الإصلاحية في منطقة مزاب التي كان الشيخ أحد أقطابها بنشاط جمعية العلماء، من خلال مجابهتهما الاحتلال الفرنسي في الميدان الصحفي وسعيهما لنهضة الأمة الإسلامية والوطن، واهتمامهما بتعليم النشأ بداخل الجزائر وخارجها... أثره في نجاح هذه الحركة في نشر الوعي تجاه قضايا الوطن والأمة في شمال وجنوب الجزائر، ما عجل بدخول البلاد معركة التحرير.

تتناول هذه الدراسة دور بني مزاب في الحركة الوطنية الجزائرية والثورة التحريرية (1930–1962)، من خلال إبراز مساهماتهم السياسية والثقافية والنضالية ضد الاستعمار الفرنسي. وتوضح الدراسة مشاركتهم في الأحزاب الوطنية مثل نجم شمال إفريقيا وحزب الشعب وحركة الانتصار للحريات الديمقراطية، إلى جانب إسهامهم في الحركة الإصلاحية من خلال جمعية العلماء المسلمين الجزائريين، خاصة في مجالي التعليم والنشاط الثقافي. كما تبرز الدراسة دور النشطاء المزابيين في نشر الوعي الوطني رغم القمع الاستعماري، إضافة إلى مساهمتهم الفعالة خلال الثورة التحريرية عبر الدعم اللوجستي والمالي والتنظيمي لجبهة التحرير الوطني، خصوصًا في مجالات التجارة والاتصال والنقل والنشاط السري في المدن. وتخلص الدراسة إلى أن بني مزاب كانوا قوة فاعلة ومستمرة في الحركة الوطنية الجزائرية، وأسهموا بشكل مهم في ترسيخ الوعي الوطني ودعم مسار الثورة التي أدت إلى الاستقلال سنة 1962.

الشيخ إبراهيم بيوض (1899- 1981م) من أعلام الإصلاح في وادي مزاب بالجزائر، فهو من مواليد مدينة القرارة بغرداية، كان قد حفظ القرآن صغيرا، وتلقى علومه على كبار شيوخ الحلقة العزابية، وكان من مؤسسي معهد الحياة، كما ساهم في تأسيس جمعية العلماء المسلمين الجزائريين، وقد عرف بمواقفه الثابتة والوطنية، كمقاومته للإستعمار الفرنسي، حتى أنه نفي ووضع تحت الإقامة الجبرية. عاش عالما ومصلحا، وقد تميزت حياته بالعمل التربوي والدعوي المثابر، وقد ترك ثراثا غزيرا، شمل تفسير آيات القرآن الكريم شفهيا وقد وثق في أكثر من 1127 شريطان ثم طبع في 40 مجلدا، وقد برز فيه التجديد في التفسير القرآني، وكان له أبلغ الأثر في مجتمعه، وله مراسلات دولية واسعة، وقد كان عالما مصلحا ومات شامخا، وخلف مؤسسات لا تزال قائمة لحد اليوم، وهو من رموز النهضة الدينية والثقافية في الجزائر المعاصرة.
