‘Comme à Tunis’ was an evening curated by Victoria Jonathan around the work of Tunisian artist Rafram Chaddad, on 14 October 2024 at the Book Bar (Hôtel Grand Amour), in conjunction with Paris Art Week. Drawing on everyday life and investing public spaces, Rafram’s work evokes exile, migration, the fragility of borders, and the mutability of identities. This roundtable, co-chaired with Joseph Hirsch (mahJ), focuses on Rafram Chaddad’s book The Good Seven Years, a deeply original artistic work on the traces of Tunisia’s Jewish minority that almost disappeared in the twentieth century.

Occupying space in contemporary Algerian poetry occupies a prominent situation and produces great interest. It is the main and short track for the poet's, awarness, and from this entrance cultural movement in Algerian poetry are inspected through a selected illustrative, namely the poet "Othman Loucif" in his troupe “Ghardaia place contributes to the formation of meaning”. The study does not stop at presenting fastened and remoted data but shifts on the way to change the place into an Suggestive poetic section With Denotation back. The poet indicates his identity through it representing memory, the self and spritual devotion, with all the linked feelings of isolation and yearing. The study revealed the poet’s capacity to employ place in a poetic imaginative way, surround many implication like forgetting , dropping and eviction. Place transforms for Some young poets into a space for reflection and examine the present. Especially when it is linked to phonetic dimension, it presents the poem additional richness.

To prevent Omani folktale heritage from being lost or distorted, especially in the era of globalization and digitization, and since there is no oral documentation of Omani folktales, there is a need to investigate the authenticity of documented Omani folktales published in print and to classify them based on tale-type. This study attempts to document a comprehensive collection of Omani folktales from existing materials published in or translated into English by developing a classification system based on Hasan El-Shamy‘s established tale-type index. Further, the study aims to assess the authenticity of these folktales by investigating Omani cultural markers found in them and identifying potential distortions or adaptations.

This research aims to highlight the path of jurisprudential reasoning based on one of the major jurisprudential rules, which is the rule of “matters with their purposes” in the chapter on transactions according to Sheikh Tfayesh (1332 AH), and came to answer the problem represented in the following questions: What is the concept of jurisprudential reasoning? What is meant by the rule of matters with their objectives, and the rules deriving from it? Did the author follow the jurisprudential explanation for this rule? What jurisprudential applications did he include under the justification for this rule? Keywords: reasoning, jurisprudence, matters with their purposes, Tfayesh, explanation of the Nile.

This study explores the borrowing of Balushi words into the Omani dialect, focusing on three commonly used terms: /sˤar.da/ (severe cold), /ˈpæn.ke/ (fan or propeller) and /ˈkun.bil/ (thick blanket). Through a survey of 50 participants from eight Omani governorates, the research examines the usage, pronunciation and recognition of these words among native speakers. The study suggests that while these terms may share origins with Farsi and Hindi, their phonetic features and local pronunciations point to more direct borrowing from Balushi. The research highlights the impact of multilingualism in Oman and the subtle ways in which borrowed words become embedded in local identity. Despite the limited sample size, this paper encourages further investigation into linguistic borrowing and regional variation in Oman.

During the reign of the Banu Midrar (140–366 AH / 757–976 CE), the city of Sijilmasa witnessed significant economic development in various aspects, particularly in trade. This study focuses on the role played by the Banu Midrar in revitalizing commercial caravan routes and organizing trade networks during their rule. It also highlights their efforts to establish extensive trade relations with the Eastern Islamic world, North Africa, al-Andalus, and Sub-Saharan Africa, with gold being one of the most prominent commodities exchanged. The researcher adopted an analytical inductive approach to examine historical events and facts and to understand the motivations behind the imposition of taxes and customs on land and maritime trade by the Banu Midrar, which contributed to elevating Sijilmasa’s global commercial status during the 2nd to 4th centuries AH (8th to 10th centuries CE). Additionally, the researcher employed the descriptive method to trace and analyze historical developments, while also incorporating other scientific methodologies where necessary. This approach led to findings that underscore the pivotal role of the Banu Midrar Emirate in the flourishing of trade in Sijilmasa.

The seventh in the CAIW series, this title draws on the 50 years of experience of Cambridge based World of Information. During most of the period covered, Oman was ruled by Sultan Qaboos bin Said, overcoming several handicaps, including modest hydrocarbon revenues, and during the first years of Qaboos’ reign, a rebellion in the southern province of Dhofar. The latter was often described as a full-blown war with the neighbouring People’s Democratic Republic of the Yemen (PDRY) and its Soviet supporters. Nevertheless, this strategically located, mostly Ibadhi sect Sultanate, has developed from a medieval, into a modern state.
