This paper discusses one paragraph of the Kitāb al-Barbariyya, a medieval Berber commentary on Abū Ġānim’s Mudawwana. The brief note examined is a comment on the answer to a legal question, which mentions the ancient Berber names of a constellation and of a plant, quoting two lines of Arabic poetry. The passage occupies seven lines (f. 126b, ll. 8-14) of the manuscript MS.ARA 1936 found at the Bibliothèque universitaire des langues et civilisations (BULAC) of Paris. The Berber words retrieved from this text are Amanar, the name of the constellation of Orion, and tabduɣt, the name of the cotton plant. Moreover, in this ancient text, the word (a)kermus, which in the contemporary Berber languages applies to some specific plants (figs, prickly pears, dates), and which, in this case, seems to mean simply ‘fruit’, which supports a possible etymology from the Greek karpós. A list of Arab authors quoted within the Kitāb al-Barbariyya is added at the end of the paper.

Ibadite religious reform in the M’zab, is precocious and internal. It starts from the established fact that the Ibadite rite in its initial version doesn’t correspond to the demands imposed by XXth C changes. In this sense it is closer to, the renaissance (Nahda) which germed in the orient at the end of the 19th C early 20th C. It shares many principles with the Badissian reform to which it is allied.However, the Ibadite community’s particularity, imposes the respect of community preservation on its reformers .It also finds there a powerful factor for legalizing to captivate innovations for economic and material modernization. The advancement of the religious reform doesn’t happen without offending conservators of the rite in its purity and its references judged as untouchable.This contribution intends to draw a picture which shows how little by little this reform is outlined, takes shape then takes root, opening an alternative, adapting to change, which is captivated and used as a conservation tool by this particular community.

Studies concerning the human response to changing climate in the arid region of South East Arabia are currently scarce and rarely based on geoarchaeological data. The detailed geoarchaeological study of the sedimentary filling of ditches, channels and wells at the Bronze Age tower site of Salūt-ST1, in central Oman, provides the opportunity to start filling this lacuna. The data, collected with a combination of field observation and thin section study, illustrate the lowering of the water table from the Early Bronze Age to the Iron Age II period (c. 2500–600 BC) as a result of local aridification. Besides, they shed light on the ways in which the community living in the area first exploited a still favourable situation with a relatively abundant water supply and later was forced to cope with the deteriorating climate around the end of the third millennium BC. While the study highlights climate change at a relatively small scale, the results and their interpretation are contextualized with other, larger-scale paleoclimate data available for the region. The Early Bronze Age hydraulic structures of Salūt-ST1 are also discussed in relation to similar structures excavated in South East Arabia.

Au Maghreb, les femmes entrepreneures font face à de nombreuses contraintes économiques, sociales et culturelles. Ces contraintes, identifiées dans de nombreuses études, limitent souvent fortement la capacité des femmes à initier leur projet d’entrepreneuriat et à le développer. L’étude analyse les stratégies menées par des femmes entrepreneures pour surmonter les différentes contraintes à leur activité économique. L’étude a été menée auprès de 40 femmes entrepreneures à Ghardaïa (sud de l’Algérie). Dans cette région oasienne, les normes sociales et culturelles sont marquées par le patriarcat et contraignent fortement l’accès des femmes à l’espace public. Les femmes entrepreneures interrogées ont développé des stratégies pour faire face aux contraintes économiques (comme la saturation du marché local en produits traditionnels) en valorisant mieux leurs produits et en créant des produits et services pour répondre aux nouvelles demandes de consommation. Elles ont aussi mobilisé des stratégies pour surmonter les contraintes socioculturelles, notamment en utilisant les outils numériques, en impliquant les hommes de leurs foyers familiaux dans leur projet d’entrepreneuriat, et en s’investissant dans de nouveaux espaces publics où la présence des femmes est acceptée. Ces différentes stratégies ont permis aux femmes de développer leurs activités économiques en s’adaptant aux normes locales plutôt qu’en entrant en conflit avec elles. Cependant, les activités développées restent en général dans le secteur informel. L’essor de cet entrepreneuriat se produit ainsi loin des dispositifs publics d’appui, qui bénéficient avant tout aux entreprises formellement établies.

This study is about the rise of a nineteenth century religious renewal movement among Ibadi Mzabis, a sectarian and Saharan community. It looks at how this group responded to the local effects of a re-globalising world and redefined its sectarian identity to strengthen itself. The movement, which I call the Ibadi Mzabi *nahḍa*, began in the late 1860s when the community was faced with multiple pressures leading to social division. A cosmopolitan network of merchant-scholars drew on ideas which were circulating among broader Arab-Muslim cultural, intellectual and other religious *nahḍa* movements at the time. Some of these ideas shaped the way in which this local movement was expressed in its textual and built works. During a period of pressure in the 1870s and 1880s, there was a rise in the production of new texts. Through these new texts, there was a renewal of Ibadi religious law and rise in the authority of Ibadi religious scholars, and an increasing recognition that Mzabis were Ibadis rather than Kharijis. In Ghardāya, this rise in sectarianism resulted in the suppression of religious diversity in the public sphere and encouraged the integration of Muslims of multiple identities into a common and "renewed" Ibadi Mzabi community. During a period of prosperity and stability in the late 1890s, new commemorative shrines were built as part of this Ibadi Mzabi *nahḍa*. Through these shrines, new ideas of sectarian identity were expressed in the landscape, substantiating the historical legacy of contemporary Ibadi scholars and expressions of Ibadism in the Mzab.

يوقِّع هذا البحث موضوع الحقيقة المحمدية على النموذج العاملي، ويبحث عن تأثيرها في الشاعر أبي مسلم البهلاني، مستعينا بالمنهج السيميائي، مستحضرا الشواهد الشعرية المناسبة لكل جزئية من جزئيات البحث، في محاولة للوصول إلى تأثير اعتقاد الشاعر بالحقيقة الشعرية في شعره، خاصة ما كان منه متوجها إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقد بدأ البحث بتعريف الحقيقة المحمدية، وعرض أوجه الاستدلال على وجودها من القرآن والسنة، وبيان أثر تلك الأقوال في أبي مسلم بالرغم من انتمائه إلى المذهب الإباضي الذي لا يقول بها، ثم تطرق البحث لأبرز العوامل المحفزة للشاعر في توجهه للحقيقة المحمدية، وطلبه المحبة من رسول الله الكريم، ثم عرض أثر الحقيقة المحمدية على الكون والإنسان وسائر المخلوقات، عرضا يشمل ما قبل الولادة وما بعدها، وما بعد الموت، ليصل إلى قناعة مفادها أن الشاعر ينطلق في محبته للرسول من صدق اعتقاده بالحقيقة المحمدية، وأن كثرة إلحاحه في ذكرها في مواضع كثيرة دليل على تأثره العميق بها، وأنه بلغ الغاية التي سعى إليها وهي التحقق بالمحبة وقد فاضت في شعره حتى اصطبغت بالتقديس لشخص النبي الكريم.الكلمات المفتاحية: (الحقيقة المحمدية، السيميائية، النموذج العاملي، علة الوجود، التأثير، الدوافع، التصوف)

Comprehensive flood control is needed because flooding can be catastrophic for people's lives and ways of living. This management must provide information on the hydrologic, geotechnical, environmental, social, and economic elements of floods. This work created maps for the flood susceptibility of the M'zab Valley using logistic regression (LR) and frequency ratio (FR). The main objective of the research was to strengthen the bivariate probability capabilities of FR and LR. A flood inventory map was created by extracting flood sites from multiple sources. The flood inventory was divided randomly into two parts: 30% was used for validation and the remaining 70% was used to train the models. Independent variable datasets included the distance from the river, rainfall, soil type, land use/land cover (LULC), elevation, drainage density, flow accumulation, and slope. The effect of each variable on flooding was assessed by comparing each independent variable with the dependent flood layer. The flood susceptibility map was assessed using the prediction rate approach on the validation dataset, which was not used for model construction. The accuracy assessment's findings revealed a prediction rate of FR 0.86 and LR 0.881, as well as a success rate of FR 0.924 and LR 0.924.

كان الاتحاد السوفيتي (1924-1990) قوة عظمى، لها وزنها في السياسة الدولية لا سيما خلال الحرب الباردة. إذ مثل القطب الثاني في الصراع الدولي مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. وعليه فقد تطلع القادة السوفيت إلى منطقة الخليج العربي، لما لها من أهمية بالغة من الناحية الاقتصادية والاستراتيجية. لكن الاختلافات الفكرية بين دول تلك المنطقة والعقيدة الشيوعية التي تبناها قادة الاتحاد السوفيتي حالت دون تطبيع العلاقات بين الطرفين، لاسيما مع العلاقات الممتازة بين دول المنطقة والقوى الغربية متمثلة ببريطانيا والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. كما أثر الغزو السوفيتي لأفغانستان في 1979. في العلاقة بين دول المنطقة والاتحاد السوفيتي، إذ خشيت تلك الدول من التوسع السوفيتي في الشرق، فأخذت تدعم المقاومة الأفغانية ضد القوات السوفيتية، كذلك أثرت حرب الخليج الأولى والعلاقات السوفيتية مع مصر واليمن الجنوبي، على طبيعة الموقف الخليجي من الاتحاد السوفيتي.
